We had a super productive, but super relaxed holiday weekend. It seems contradictory, doesn't it? Somehow, we managed it. Somehow, this ended up being one of the best weekends we've spent in a very long time.
It was wonderful to just be...and to enjoy each other. We laughed and talked and laughed more and ate good food.
We worked some, too--actually a lot--but we hardly noticed. It felt good.
I was about to give up on this old bench. It had definitely seen better days. Instead, I decided to try the magic of paint, and I'm glad I did! It looks like a totally new set.
I also decided to revive the kids' wooden picnic table. I repainted it red and then added a few coats of chalkboard paint to the top to make it extra fun.

It felt like we were on vacation, or even summer camp. Up at dawn, soaking in every minute of the day in the most relaxed way, a few projects accomplished, easy going attitudes all around, a little music, a load of laughs, and a lot of love. Ahhhh, THIS is what normal feels like. More, please.
Pssst--Be sure to check out this week's featured recipe and craft on the home page. The recipe is one of my own, and you can even catch a glimpse of it in the food pic shown above. See that bowl of goodness sitting behind the tray of watermelon? It's so yummy!
