Our region recently experienced a tad of winter weather. We typically do not get much snow in our area, and last year--as with most of the country--we seemed to skip winter completely. Needless to say, the whole town was in a tizzy at the talk that we might get some sleet and ice. The night before it was supposed to hit, the local news broadcast tons of closings for the area for the following day. Most businesses (banks, doctor's offices, manufacturing plants, you name it) had already decided they would be closed before the weather even hit. The town shut down in ANTICIPATION of sleet.
In the mad dash to the grocery store during winter weather, there always seems to be a slightly out of focus scene of empty shelves, folks in the check out line that stretches around the store, arms full of milk, bread and eggs. Panic in the air. Not us. Oh my husband did risk his safety and venture out for the essentials alright, but our essentials were 2 large bottles of red wine and a triple layer double fudge chocolate cake. Hey, you never know, we could be stranded for days. Yea for ice storm 2013!
It did sleet and ice. We feasted on decadence. It melted by the next day.
