I never thought I'd be so happy to have gas...but I am! I'm ecstatic. Our gas line for our new oven is being installed today, which means the beautiful beast can finally be moved from the garage to the kitchen...and like, I can use it. Happy days!
I was worried about our timeline on this one because, you know, it would make sense to be able to use it for the turkey day meal. Our timeline on most of our projects is pretty easy going. No biggie if we have to bump out dates here or there on certain projects, but the kitchen? Yeah, the kitchen is one project where deadlines are hard. Especially this time of year. It's been a bit of a nail biter getting the bids in and booking the day to do the deed, but I am so relieved and grateful to say the time has come. Guess you know one of MY thankful feathers on my pine cone turkey.
We knew when we moved in that we'd be replacing the oven fairly soon. The priorities were the fridge (the previous owners took theirs with them) and the microwave (it was in the sales disclosure that the microwave was non-functioning). So, needless to say, these were ordered and delivered for install upon us gaining access to the house. Our oven works fine, but all of the other appliances we purchased are stainless, leaving the oven to stick out like a sore thumb.

You can see the oven in this shot, which was taken before we purchased the house. Not a bad oven, just not what we're going for. And because we were spending the money for something new, we thought that we may as well go the gas route. We did our research, comparing prices and ratings, and watching sales (my husband is AWESOME at product research) and finally decided on purchasing a Whirlpool.
Our other appliances are Samsung, and that was our hope for the oven, but Samsung doesn't make a double oven in a freestanding model. They make the double wall ovens, and they do have one freestanding "double" oven model, but the oven is one large space that's separated only by a ceramic slide out piece; we wanted something that had two completely separate ovens. After much discussion, and comparing the ovens stylistically to our other appliances, we decided that this was the winner:

I can only do this pretty thang justice by offering up the gift of turkey to rest and bake in it's chambers. And pies. And casseroles. At the same time. I'm giddy with excitement.
Measurements for our countertops were taken last night, so those should be well on their way, too. Maybe before Christmas, our kitchen will be squared away. Fingers crossed!
