There you go. Now, you'll be able to maybe see what I saw when I walked out with the kids yesterday afternoon. I watched them play, I watched them run and laugh, all together, all enjoying each other in the warmth of the afternoon, and suddenly...it was as if I was watching it in slow motion. The smiles which seemed to spread from ear to ear, the running, the ...everything.
Amazing what a change in weather can do for the soul. Really. I was soaking it in, and more than just the sunshine. Ryan said through a toothy grin, "I love this. I love when we do this." And I do, too. We frequently get outside to throw a ball around, walk with the kids as they ride bikes, or run around in the warmer months. It's just been too long. We've missed it. All of it. All of us.
Ryan and and Zack were tossing the baseball around with Vern, and Ethan erupted with enthusiasm. Grabbing a pee-wee glove from the ground, he shouted, "I wanna have a catch, Dad! I wanna play!" It was such a sweet moment that I had to fight tears.
A little bit of sun seemed to warm our skin, our bones, our hearts. Everything, everything.
