Have you ever lost yourself in a song? Kind of the way Eminem describes...except not hard core, or about hard living, or pressure, or being on the spot and risking it all. Okay, so not at all like Eminem describes. I was lost nonetheless. Lost in the lyrics, the melody, the harmony, the emotion behind it. I wanted to hear it over and over because I was hungry for it and just couldn't get enough.
It was At last I see the light--from the movie Tangled. I know. I'm sorry.

We have watched Frozen --on average--about 5 times a week since Ella got the movie for her birthday at the end of March. That's almost 8 weeks at 5 times per week. We know every line, every inflection, emotion, expression, action and song by heart. It's to the point where, to keep me from going mad, I started looking for new things in the movie to focus on. The detail of the background animation, the hairs on Sven's coat of fur. You know, ANYTHING. And by the way, the animation is phenomenal. Really. Love everything about Frozen...except that I'm forced to watch it almost every day.
To break it up a little bit, and stave off insanity, we've been suggesting Tangled as an alternative. Ella loves this movie, too, so it's not a hard sell. We've been catching a lot of Rapunzel and Flinn Ryder these days, and after hearing the above mentioned duet a number of times, I found it stuck in my head while at work. The entire day. Not in an annoying kid song, geez-make-it-stop kind of way. An I'm-going-to-softly-hum-this-while-typing-because-it-makes-me-happy kind of way. What the hell?
Wth? Why?why?why? I think I'm being brainwashed.
I try to imagine what could possibly have served as my Frozen or Tangled in my preschool years. Maybe The Muppets?? I'll have to check with the Madre on that one. And then profusely apologize. At last, I see the light...
Psst--Love you, Mom. Of course, for all of the big things, but also for all of the unspoken, unnoticed, unappreciated (at the time) little things you did all along the way (like possibly driving yourself crazy by watching a kid movie or listening to kid songs a million times over for my sake.) Happy Mother's Day!
