I decided right after we moved in last July that this spring Ella and I would take on gardening. I have the spot in our back yard all picked out for our set of raised beds, from which we'll coax vibrantly colored vegetables and flowers to erupt through the soil. Birds will be chirping, the sun will be shining, we'll be feasting on our yield all summer and fall...can you see it? There' just one little caveat: I really don't know much about gardening.
So, I have ordered a couple of books to help me through the planning and prepping. In ordering these books, however, I learned that seeds are being ordered (and bought out) now. Huh? But it's January. Well, apparently, things like spinach, radish, peas, brussel sprouts, beets and cabbage need to be set out 3-6 weeks BEFORE the last frost. Man! I better get in gear! I suppose I had better order my seeds to get my seedlings going if I have any hopes of green thumbing it this spring.
