But it IS exciting, nonetheless! We stripped down to nothing, and now there's nothing to do but wait. Naked and anxious and a little uncomfortable, we're REALLY looking forward to covering up. But in sheets of total freakin' awesomeness!
Our old countertops are G-O-N-E. I almost wanna do the mom-at-the-bus-stop-on-the-first-day-of-school dance.

Except, if I do it, it will probably end up looking more like this:
Right now, I can't help looking at my bare naked counters with dreamy eyes and envisioning them in all of their glory. After looking at many options, and considering what would fit with the direction we're taking the kitchen, we decided to go with brushed stainless steel. Here's a glimpse at the kinda/sorta look we're going for (not exactly, but close enough):
Although stainless is not a cheap option, it does come with a lot of benefits. It's commercial grade, very tough, resistant to water and heat damage, resistant to corrosive materials, and one of the most hygienic materials used for countertops, which is why it's used in commercial kitchens. And we love the look! The farmhouse table we built for the breakfast area, the island we plan to install (which will be wood), along with our wood floors, will definitely warm it up a bit.
What we're currently dealing with seems so far away from the beautiful finishes pictured above. Sigh. Vern went to work on Sunday removing the tops so that the manufacturer could get more precise measurements. What was revealed was old and flaking adhesive which then had to be scraped off with a putty knife. It's not looking very pretty right now.

It IS a process, however, so our bits will be exposed for just a teeny bit longer while we wait for the tops to be finished. I can't wait to show you guys the next step in this kitchen transformation!
